Benefits expanding to meet employees work- life balance
Achieving that perfect balance between work and family life has always been a challenge.
According to research by Barnett Waddingham which surveyed 300 employees, 59% believe that their employer supports them in achieving a good work-life balance, with 49% believing that wellbeing is an important aspect in their company.
45% of these employees aged between 18-29 felt that their company supports them in leading a healthy lifestyle, with 52% happy that their company provides adequate support in the event of an illness.
Head of workplace health at Barnett Waddingham, Carl Chapman, states:
“We are at the beginning of a cultural shift in the way we work as a nation, with forward thinking employers leading the way with agile working, flexible working, on-site gyms and medical facilities, and even on-site childcare. These are all examples of how employers can help employees manage their lifestyles.
“It is key to understand the definition of a positive work-life balance between individuals and employers need to think outside of the one size fits all solution. It is important to engage with employees to find out what is important to them; [organisations] can then find benefit solutions that support this.”
Companies now, through an employee benefits programme with Excellect, are able to provide packages such as;
- Fitness classes
- Gym sessions
- Workshops
- Team boot camps
- Therapies
- Healthy food incentives, such as fruit baskets
All these are designed to work around your busy staff. Prompting physical and mental health and fitness to your business environment.
Businesses that encourage a work-life balance gain a positive reputation and therefore become an attractive company to be part of. These companies tend to have higher employee retention levels, due to employees feeling less stressed out of work they are therefore more motivated, productive and generally happier.
